$1.9 MILLION FOR SPINE INJURIES IN A COMMERCIAL VAN REAR-END CRASH

Mintz & Geftic’s Bryan Mintz, now of counsel to Zirrith Law, settled a New Jersey motor vehicle accident lawsuit at mediation for $1.9 million. The personal injury lawsuit was filed on behalf of a 37-year-old woman who endured serious injuries when her car was hit by a commercial van in a rear-end collision.

The injured client initially suffered with extreme neck pain following the collision. She spent years with a diagnosis of possible displacement of the cervical disc and possible C5-6 disc compression on the left C6 nerve root.

After years of physical therapy, epidurals, and a nerve ablation, an x-ray revealed an instability in the C4-5 level of the spine requiring urgent surgery to fuse the vertebrae. Later, a spinal cord stimulator (SCS) device was surgically implanted, which unfortunately became infected leading to yet another surgery to remove it. (Hudson County, New Jersey)
